Bible in a Year - Join me!

Sharing bite-sized Biblical insights 2x/week.

If you’ve ever had even the slightest desire to read the Bible start to finish…I’d love for you to join me!

I’m sharing Biblical pearls of wisdom as I journey through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. It's through the Bible in a Year podcast.

✨Now for the backstory…✨

I grew up Jewish but somehow felt called to seek Christ. A few years ago, a friend introduced me to this podcast. I had never read a word of the New Testament before, and it truly changed my life! Even though Abraham’s family is technically my family, until I started this journey, I knew so little about the Bible. My name is Rebecca, and I didn't even know that the matriarch Rebecca was mother of twin boys, like I am. But most importantly, I finally discovered how the story ended.

I’m journeying through the Bible publicly this time because this treasure trove of wisdom is too invaluable to collect dust on a shelf, and I know it can inspire you like it’s inspired me - regardless of where you are in your faith journey, or what your background is.

And if you've read the Bible multiple times, you already know that you can never read it enough. The first time you read it is like the tip of the iceberg. And I just can't emphasize enough how impactful reading the Bible has been pretty much all aspects of my life: in how I see the world, in my parenting, as a wife, etc., and I can't wait to do it again.

Why not just read the Bible? Why listen to it through this podcast?

First, the Bible in a Year podcast utilizes the Great Adventure Bible timeline, which basically puts all the books into chronological order to make the whole story easier to understand. For example, if David's writing a psalm about trying to escape from King Saul trying to kill him, that psalm might be paired with the narrative passage talking about the same exact story.

Second, let's be honest, not all Bible passages are easy to understand. Some of them, whether they're filled with lots of measurements or names, or are cryptic and prophetic, can go right over our heads if we’re not in the right state of mind and have the right context in which to read them.

So at the end of every episode, Father Mike Schmitz, who narrates the podcast, spends some time summarizing and explaining what we just listened to. And what I always loved doing is jotting down some notes and then putting them in my journaling Bible later to come back to. So wherever you are in your faith journey and whatever your faith background is, I highly recommend just giving it a try!

DETAILS:
✨We started w/ the intro episode on January 1st, but it's never too late to catch up!
✨After every episode, I post a quick commentary with the goal of starting a conversation about the chapters and verses we just heard. Planning on 2 episodes per week, since I want this to be realistic and sustainable for everyone, including myself.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
✨Really just an app to listen to podcasts! Spotify and Apple Podcasts are my favorites.

OPTIONAL TOOLS:
✨A journaling Bible - I’ve found this super convenient for jotting down notes on impactful passages.
✨The Bible in a Year offers a companion book with main takeaways of each episode.

Faith is NOT a journey you’re meant to take alone, and we can learn so much from each others’ unique perspectives. 🤍
